{"id":8904,"date":"2025-03-01T08:00:12","date_gmt":"2025-03-01T13:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.christensensplantcenter.com\/news\/?p=8904"},"modified":"2025-04-02T13:16:12","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T17:16:12","slug":"different-but-also-the-same","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.christensensplantcenter.com\/news\/different-but-also-the-same\/","title":{"rendered":"Different, But Also the Same&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>For, lo, the winter is past,<\/em><em>The rain is over and gone;<\/em><em>The flowers appear on the earth;<\/em><em>The time of the singing of birds is come,<\/em><em>And the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Song of Solomon as quoted by Ernie Harwell<\/p>\n<p>The older I get, the more I love this quote.\u00a0 Not only for the sentiment about spring, but also the memory it sparks about my youth.<\/p>\n<p>I spent every spring in my youth listening to Ernie Harwell and Al Kaline covering the Detroit Tigers baseball games on WJR.\u00a0 I often fell asleep with a pair of headphones on because the game was on the west coast and went farther into the night than I could.\u00a0 Those happy memories always started every spring with Ernie reciting these words.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 683 \/ 373;\" title=\"01_RetroHeadphones\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christensensplantcenter.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/01_RetroHeadphones-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"683\" height=\"373\" data-id=\"8919\" data-init-width=\"683\" data-init-height=\"373\" data-width=\"683\" data-height=\"373\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For me it marked so many starts.\u00a0 The start of the baseball season, and being able to listen to Ernie and Al call the games.\u00a0 The \u201cstart\u201d to the end of the school year, and the beginning of summer vacation.\u00a0 And the start of the nursery season.\u00a0 Which meant my father would be leaving early, getting home late, working weekends, all the things that we all know and live.<\/p>\n<p>2025 marks my 30<sup>th<\/sup> official year at Christensen\u2019s.\u00a0 And while numerous things have changed over the last 30 years, it always is so striking at how many things remain the same. (Like my quoting of Song of Solomon\u2026 bonus points if you noticed that I\u2019ve quoted it before!)\u00a0 Winter ends. The snow melts.
