{"id":9373,"date":"2026-04-20T07:45:42","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T11:45:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.christensensplantcenter.com\/news\/?p=9373"},"modified":"2026-04-17T08:32:36","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T12:32:36","slug":"new-trees-for-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.christensensplantcenter.com\/news\/new-trees-for-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"New Trees for 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Christensen&#8217;s Plant Center has added several new (or new to us) varieties of trees to the availability list this season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emerald City\u00ae Tulip Tree\u00a0<\/strong>(<em>Liriodendron tulipfera &#8216;JFS-Oz&#8217;)<\/em>\u200b<\/p>\n<p>This is a more refined cultivar of the tulip tree. It will grow to be 55\u2019 tall and 25\u2019 wide, in a straighter, more upright manner with a dominant central leader. The leaves are a deeper green color with a glossy finish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ivory Spear\u00ae\u00a0<\/strong>(<em>Malus &#8216;JFS KW214MX&#8217;)\u00a0<\/em>and <strong>Raspberry Spear\u00ae\u00a0<\/strong>(<em>Malus &#8216;JFS KW213MX&#8217;)<\/em><strong> Crabapples<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Both of these trees will grow to be 18\u2019 tall and 7\u2019 wide. They are a very narrow and dense form of crab apples and highly disease resistant. The <strong>Ivory Spear\u00ae<\/strong> has pink buds that open to white flowers, dark green leaves and bright cherry red fruit. The <strong>Raspberry Spear\u00ae<\/strong> has magenta pink flowers, dark purple leaves, and deep red fruit. They both will thrive in full sun.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cornus Stellar Pink\u00ae Dogwood\u00a0<\/strong>(<em>Cornus x &#8216;Rutgan<\/em>&#8216;)<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Stellar Pink\u00ae<\/strong> Dogwood will grow to be 20\u2019 tall and wide. It has pink flowers that are just slightly lighter than the Rubra Dogwood, making it a great subtitle. <strong>Stellar Pink\u00ae <\/strong>has green foliage that changes to a bright red in the fall. \u00a0While <strong>Stellar Pink\u00ae<\/strong> isn&#8217;t new to Christensen&#8217;s, we will only have the clump variety this year, in an 8\u2019-10\u2019 range.<\/p>\n<p>This is a small highlight of what&#8217;s new at Christensen&#8217;s this season.
